Gungahlin Uniting Church began in 1996 at the Ngunnawal Community Centre, moving into the Ngunnawal Primary School hall, before opening their new building in The Valley Ave in 2010. Gungahlin Uniting is made up of a diverse group of people, with swarms of children and their parents, youth, single men and women, and older couples.
“We are a people from diverse backgrounds, histories and traditions. We are a people who are made up of all the joys and delights, struggles and realities of life. At Gungahlin Uniting we seek to be an inclusive and open community of Christians who engage with the message and presence of Christ. We reflect intentionally and creatively on the ways of Christ for our own lives. We are a community of hope seeking to live out and share the love and grace of God. Each Sunday we gather at 9.30am at the Gungahlin Uniting Church and Community Center. All people of all ages are most welcome to come along and be a part of this exciting community.”
We are a community on a journey, we’ve grown from a small faith community planted in Ngunnawal in the early years of Gungahlin’s development to a thriving open, inclusive, intergenerational & multicultural community. As Gungahlin has grown we have seen a lot of change.
We are an open and inclusive community, everyone is welcome to use their gifts in worship, prayer, leadership, hospitality and teaching.
We are always evolving, always changing. We have continued to change…
- as we have welcomed babies and children
- as we have welcomed older members from the community
- as we have welcomed people of different cultures and languages
- as we have welcomed families
- as we have welcomed people of different gender identities
- as we have built relationships with our neighbours, in particular with the Gungahlin Mosque community
We are not a static community, we are a living and breathing church who are striving to live out the Kingdom Dream of Jesus. We look forward to continue to evolve and grow as you chose to become a part of our wonderful, and sometimes weird community.
